Rigby carbine is in a very good condition, with only old repairs to the butt. The lock has a roller-frizen. It has a captive ramrod secured via a swivel on an L-shaped bar designed to accommodate a socket bayonet.
There is a number (1881) stamped on the L shaped bar.
This carbine is probably one of those issued to the Irish Constabulary in the 1820's and was certainly issued to the Police Water Guard (PWG) as it has been stamped on the top of the barrel by the PWG.
