An Early Constabulary cutlass dating to the late Georgian or Victorian period. It has a brass hilt with shagreen-bound grip, and has a broad central fuller running very near to the point, it has a distinctive false edge towards it's tip. It is complete with it's original scabbard, the stitching of which has failed as is usual causing a weak spot in the scabbard, reducing its rigidity when the sword is absent. The blade release stud is missing, which means the brass mounting pulls away from the scabbard. The brass mounting can be released with the aid of a butter knife.
This sword was manufacturted by Mole.
