Franco-Prussian War  Chassepot Mdle 1866
This item was a Prussian capture and has the German Frog Stud. The scabbard is non matching and has German Landstrum markings. This allows some further research which I have undertaken.
The Landsturm units were the fourth class of infantry consisting of older soldiers and was akin to the Home Guard
The side of the blade has the date August 1867 and the manufacturing armoury is Chatelleraut, with an "A" serial number

Scabbard; 56.L.I.7.62= 56th Landsturm Regiment, 1st Battalion, 7th Company, Rack# 62
