ORIGINAL INDIA PATTERN BROWN BESS SOCKET BAYONET.
The socket and elbow have no pitting and are pattinated. The socket is nicely numbered with two different styles of numbering, the slot shows some heavy wear. The triangular blade has a very slight bend and shows some light pitting and heavy staining. The socket appear that it might have been browned, perhaps for SEA Service (although these would more likely be painted black).
It would appear that the bayonet has been reissued perhaps in the percussions era (post 1830) due to the site notch being present. Numbers are: 5/3/43 3/L/7 1
